On March 26, 2015 Charlotte McCoy turned 91, but she’s as active as ever even though she had a knee replacement last April. Every year Charlotte plays billiards in the Senior Games and has won gold at the state level. On Tuesday she plays mornings at the billiards handicap league at Hacienda and evenings at Chatham. On Thursday she plays at Silver Lake. Eight ball is her favorite game.
Charlotte is proud of her son, five grandchildren and one great granddaughter who live in South Carolina. Over the years she’s had many occupations: for 18 years she sold real estate in Punta Gorda, she studied to be a CPA in college but quit. Charlotte also worked in bookkeeping and at newspapers including The News Press in Fort Myers. Also with her deceased husband she drew up blueprints and built four homes!
Fifteen years ago Charlotte moved to The Village of Santo Domingo from Gaffney, SC where her family lives though she’s originally from Michigan. In The Villages she learned to play billiards and to crochet. She’s proud of a four foot diameter Christmas wreath that she made out of folded newspapers.
Charlotte is very thankful to all the billiard and card people who helped her through three surgeries.
