Joyce and Larry Berg came to The Village of Mallory Square six years ago from Indiana. Her hometown was Indianapolis and his was Brownsburg. Surprisingly they met each other on a blind date and have been married fifty-one years. They enjoy entertaining their son and daughter’s families when they bring their two grandchildren to Florida.
For the past two years Joyce has been the VBC treasurer. Larry and Joyce host the Sunday Night Mixed Doubles League at Hibiscus and Allamanda. They enjoy eight-ball and Joyce plays in the Tuesday Morning Ladies League. She learned how to shoot pool in The Villages while Larry has played billiards for fifty-five years. He plays in the Friday night Tournament of Champions at La Hacienda.
When Larry was in the Army he spent 15 months in Korea. His occupation was working in accounting and computers. Now Larry enjoys woodworking. His favorite project is an island that he built in their kitchen. He likes to do handyman chores around the house and play golf. He also enjoys basketball, football and watching golf on television.
Joyce supported her family as a housewife. Now in The Villages Joyce supports our troops through Operation Shoebox. She also belongs to the Digital Scrapbook Club. Her latest interest is learning how to make creative projects with her new embroidery machine. She wants to decorate towels, clothes and tote bags.
