Tom & Kathy Gittings came to The Village of Hadley in 2008 from Evanston, Illinois. Professionally Tom was an economist and had been retired for many years before they moved to The Villages. Kathy has been a registered nurse for 47 years and was a health care manager for a hospice agency for 19 years. She retired in 2011, but maintains her Illinois nursing license. For seven years she also taught art appreciation to children in first through eighth grades. Tom has two children and Kathy has three and they each have two grandchildren.
Tom’s interests include studies of the mathematics of knots on computers and he has written articles about knots. He also enjoys the history of money, mountain climbing and is a Bridge Life Master.
Tom has played billiards for four years and Kathy has played 18 months. He likes 8 ball and plays in the Monday night league. She plays in the Monday Ladies afternoon league and likes 9 ball. They both play in the Sunday night mixed doubles league.
The Gittings both play pickle ball and enjoy traveling together. Kathy also likes tennis, gardening, history, and cards. In The Villages she belongs to the Nurse’s Club, the True Crime Book Club and the Genealogy Club.
