Wendy and Bill Lord are originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota and have lived in the Village of Ashland for seven years. Bill has been a member of VBC for seven years and Wendy for five. They have two children. Their son graduated from West Point and their daughter was an all American soccer player in North Carolina.
Wendy comes from a very sport talented family. Her mother was a bowling instructor. Wendy started bowling when she was five years old. Her brother and sister both have a bowling average over 200 and Wendy has a bowling average of 185. The family won many bowling prize money awards. Wendy was also into skeet shooting for a few years. When she came to the Villages seven years ago, she thought she might give billiards a try. She belongs to the Sunday Night Mixed Doubles League, Tuesday 9 Ball League, Wednesday Ladies League, and Thursday BCA league. She has won medals in local billiard tournaments, in senior games, and senior state games. Wendy is presently secretary of the VBC.
Wendy worked for MDI which is a manufacturing company as a payroll and benefits coordinator. Prior to that job she worked for the Vlasic Pickle company. She really enjoyed the pickles.
Bill has been playing billiards for fifty years and his favorite game is three rail billiards. Bill runs six leagues in the Villages and was president of VBC for two years. He is a teacher of billiards at the Life Long Learning College. He is a veteran and served in the Army. His occupation was in sales with Dupont Company. Bill has a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering.
Oil painting, wood working, and making stain glass are some of his hobbies. His favorite is the making of stained glass. He has been making stain glass designs for forty years.
When you look at Bill, you think “Santa Claus”. Bill started playing Santa Claus at twenty five years old when he was stationed in Germany. His latest playing of Santa was this past Christmas at our VBC party.
Bill and Wendy have been happily married for thirty nine years.
